Vermont Alter-Native

Vermont Alter-Native is a veteran-owned, family-operated cannabis dispensary at 939 US Route 2 in Alburgh — the northernmost adult-use retailer on the Champlain Islands. It's the shop that completes the island chain: Lake Effect Cannabis serves the southern end from South Hero; Vermont Alter-Native holds down the north, just a few miles from the Vermont–Canada border.

The shop bills itself as a farm-to-store operation with generational roots in the island community. Two sets of hours govern the week: Thursday through Sunday the doors open at 9 AM and stay open until 8 PM, making it the latest-closing dispensary on the islands and the right call for a Sunday evening pickup when Lake Effect has already closed at 5 PM. Monday through Wednesday the shop opens at 11 AM and closes at 7 PM.

Vermont Alter-Native serves North Hero residents (~12 miles south on Route 2), Grand Isle visitors passing through, and travelers arriving from Alburgh's border-corridor position near the Rouses Point (NY) and Quebec crossings.
