Green Mountain Hike Finder
Twelve real Vermont hikes within drivable range of downtown Burlington, ranked by vibe instead of star ratings. Each card tells you the driving time, the elevation, what the payoff actually looks like, and — honestly — whether it is legal to consume there. Mostly: no, it's a public park. We still love the hike.
Where is it legal to consume in Vermont?
Vermont allows adults 21+ to possess up to 1 oz of flower. Consumption, however, is restricted to private property. That means:
- State parks, state forests, and town parks: no consumption on site.
- Federal land (Green Mountain National Forest): still illegal under federal law, regardless of Vermont statute.
- Your own property, backyard, or an Airbnb that explicitly allows it: yes, you are fine.
- Rental cars and vehicles in motion: never. Open-container laws apply.
This page is not an invitation to break any of those rules. It's a list of hikes we think are great whether or not you consumed before or after.
