Northeast Kannabis
recreationalAbout Northeast Kannabis
Northeast Kannabis opened in December 2022 on Railroad Street in downtown St. Johnsbury — the second cannabis retailer to open in the Northeast Kingdom, following The Green Man's October 2022 debut. The shop is owned by Matt and Aleha Racenet, lifetime Caledonia County residents and educators who built Northeast Kannabis around a mission of community education and destigmatization of cannabis use.
Matt Racenet holds a Master's Degree in Education and has spent years as a St. Johnsbury-area teacher, while Aleha Racenet — also a teacher — is completing her own graduate degree in Education. Their approach is evident in how the shop operates: staff take time to explain products, effects, and safe-use practices, making it a welcoming stop for first-time buyers and experienced consumers alike. The shop carries a curated menu of Vermont-grown craft cannabis from dedicated small-batch cultivators, consciously selected for quality and sustainability.
Hours: Monday through Saturday 10 AM–7 PM. CLOSED Sundays — a key planning note if you are visiting on a weekend. The later Monday–Saturday close (7 PM) makes it the better choice for after-work weekday access.
Amenities include ADA-accessible entry, an on-site ATM, veteran discount, and online ordering via Dutchie (preorders accepted until 10 AM). Rating: 4.7/5 on Leafly. Contact: (802) 424-1760, northeastkannabis.com. Vermont's base cannabis tax is 14% excise plus 6% sales — 20% total. St. Johnsbury has not adopted a local option cannabis tax as of mid-2026.
